The Itinerary

Day by day · loose on purpose
04
Thursday
Arrival & settle in
Beach + pool at the Seafire

You land at Owen Roberts (GCM) around 4pm Thursday. After customs and grabbing the rental car it’s ~15 min to the Seafire, so today is settle-in only — unpack, decompress on the sand, then a sunset dinner. (Cayman keeps the same clock as Austin in June, so there’s no time change to fight.)

Getting there: You're here — the north end of Seven Mile Beach (west coast). Most stops are a short hop south by car; the West Bay sights are just north.

Dinner — Tillie's5 min by carBook ahead

On Seven Mile Beach, sunset tables, polished but relaxed, great non-alcoholic options for everyone. Sunset beach tables are limited.

Getting there: South ~5 min by car or taxi to Palm Heights, mid Seven Mile Beach — a bit far to walk in the heat. — tap for map

Friday
Stingray City
Stingray City Sandbar — morning~10 min drive + boatBook ahead

Calmest seas in the morning; small boat, beat the cruise crowds. Stand-up-in-the-water, no swimming required — ideal for everyone.

Getting there: Drive ~10 min south to the dock (Camana Bay / Safehaven), then ~25 min by boat northeast into the North Sound. — tap for map
MapOperatorReserveCallNo single official IG — it's a public landmark with many operators
There's no land entrance — the Sandbar sits out in the North Sound and you only reach it by boat. Every licensed operator goes to the same spot, so pick by which dock you'd rather leave from:
  • West / Seven Mile Beach side · ~10–15 min drive, ~25 min boat
  • George's WatersportsCayman Islands Yacht Club, Dock B · ~12 min south
Bookings go through the reservation form / Book Now on their own site (no instant third-party checkout), so confirm by phone if you don’t get a quick reply.
  • Captain Marvin'sWest Bay Rd / private Seven Mile Beach dock · ~15 min south
Booking runs through Peek, a third-party booking service — those links can change, so the website and phone are the reliable fallback.
  • North / Rum Point side · ~40 min drive, but the shortest boat ride
  • Red Sail SportsRum Point dock · NE ~40 min — same crew as your Kittiwake trip
The Reserve button opens the specific Rum Point Stingray tour page; if it ever 404s, start from redsailcayman.com and pick the Rum Point departure.
Kittiwake wreck snorkel / dive — afternoonboat from beachJust the two of you

A window to branch off while the parents rest. Snorkel-friendly, better on a discover-scuba dive. Booked via Red Sail Sports — handy, since their dive desk is right on the Seafire property.

Getting there: No driving — the Red Sail boat leaves right from the Seafire beach; the wreck is just offshore to the south. — tap for map
Dinner — Luca5 min by carBook ahead

Top Italian, oceanfront terrace, serious wine list.

Getting there: South ~5 min by car or taxi on West Bay Rd, at the Caribbean Club. — tap for map

Sunday
Slow Sunday · keep it close
Cemetery Beach & Reef — easy snorkel~8 min by carWalk-in

Sunday’s the easy day — the big outings are Friday & Saturday, so keep this one close. Cemetery Beach, at the quiet north end of Seven Mile Beach, has the best shore snorkeling on the strip: a healthy reef about 60 yards out, calm water, sea-grape shade and rarely a crowd. Grab the Seafire’s complimentary snorkel gear on the way.

Getting there: North ~8 min up West Bay Rd to the quiet end of Seven Mile Beach (by the cemetery). — tap for map

Governor’s Beach~7 min by carWalk-in

A wide, calm public stretch of Seven Mile Beach with easy parking, soft sand and a reef close enough to snorkel from shore — an effortless swim-and-laze morning. If anyone would rather have one proper outing, the east-end drive below (gardens, caves, Pedro) is the bigger option.

Getting there: South ~7 min down West Bay Rd to mid Seven Mile Beach (by the Governor’s residence). — tap for map

Pedro St. James — optional stop~30 min by carWalk-in

Spa half-day — the girlsThe girlsBook ahead

Sunday’s the loose day — while whoever wants the east-end drive heads out, Mom and the girls book a half-day at The Spa at Seafire: massages or facials, the relaxation lounge, jacuzzi, cold plunge, steam room and the island’s only hammam. Reserve treatments ahead — weekend slots go first.

Getting there: You’re already here — the spa is on-property at the Seafire, so the girls roll straight from the beach to the treatment room. No driving.
Spa treatments book through the resort — the iDayPass portal, the spa desk, or the concierge.
Beach cabana at the SeafireBook ahead

Plant the day on the sand: reserve a beachfront cabana or daybed at the Seafire — shade, plush loungers, unobstructed Seven Mile Beach views and beach-bar service, so the parents always have somewhere comfortable out of the sun. They’re limited and sell out daily, so book ahead (poolside cabanas too).

Getting there: Right on the Seafire’s own stretch of Seven Mile Beach (or poolside) — nothing to drive to.
Beach cabanas run about US$150 (table + seating for four and four sunbeds); poolside about US$100. Reserve via the resort’s iDayPass portal or the front desk.
Dinner — Luca, or dine in at the SeafireBook ahead

Grand Old House and Next Door are both closed Sundays, so two easy picks: Luca (the contemporary Italian on Seven Mile Beach — open Sundays) or staying in at the Seafire, whose restaurants are Ave (Mediterranean), Avecita (Spanish tapas) and Coccoloba (beachside Mexican).

Getting there: Luca is south ~5 min by car; the Seafire options are right at the hotel (no travel). — tap for map

Monday
Departure
Slow morning + Camana Bay5 min by carWalk-in

Your flight’s at 4pm Monday, so plan to leave the Seafire by ~1:30–2pm (be at the airport ~2 hours ahead for an international departure). That leaves the morning for a last beach walk and breakfast, then coffee & gelato at Camana Bay — 5 min from the hotel and on the way to the airport. Drop the rental car back at Owen Roberts (or have the agency collect it). Departure tax is usually included in the airfare.

Getting there: South ~5 min by car — next door, and on the way to the airport (southeast, ~15 min). — tap for map

Island Essentials

Good to have on hand while you’re there
Getting around · rental car
Rent one — grab it at the airport

A rental car is the move — you’ll want one for the northeast and east-end days. Pick it up at Owen Roberts (GCM) on arrival (desks are at/across from arrivals, ~15 min from the Seafire), or have it delivered free to the hotel. Good local option: Andy’s Rent-A-Car (+1 345-949-8111) — airport desk plus a Seven Mile Beach office near the hotel; the big chains (Hertz, Budget, Avis, Dollar) and NextCar & Firefly are at the airport too. Andy’s locations → · airport rentals map →

Without a car
No Uber/Lyft — taxis & apps

Uber and Lyft are banned, but short hops are easy. Taxis are fixed-fare by zone (agree it first, usually cash) and the front desk will call one. The government CI:GO app (cigo.ky) books a licensed taxi at a set fare; Island: GO! (islandgo.app) is a local rideshare; and public minibuses run the Seven Mile Beach road by day. Cars are scarce around Rum Point after dark, so drive yourself on the far-flung evenings.

Emergency
911

Police, fire and ambulance island-wide. Cayman is rated very safe (US State Dept Level 1).

Currency
CI$ — fixed to USD

Cayman dollar pegged at CI$1 = US$1.25. US dollars accepted everywhere; change often given in CI$. Bring small bills.

Driving
Left side — good roads

A visitor’s driving permit (≈ CI$16) is required — the rental agency issues it on the spot with your license + passport. Roads are well-paved and easy along Seven Mile Beach and the main highways, just keep left. Expect British-style roundabouts (yield to traffic already in the circle / coming from your right) and narrower two-lane stretches out to the east end and north side. Watch for the odd pothole, sudden tropical downpours, and the occasional chicken or iguana crossing. Mileages are short — nothing on the island is much over an hour away.

Tipping
Often built in

Most restaurants add a 10–15% service charge — check the bill before tipping again. Taxis: 10–15%.

Power
Same as US

120V, Type A/B outlets — no adapter or converter needed for US devices.

Time zone
UTC−5, no DST

In June, the same time as Austin — no clock change to manage.

Entry
Passport + onward ticket

US citizens need a valid passport and proof of onward/return travel; no pre-arrival authorization for tourism. Note: firearms, ammunition and anything that fires a projectile (incl. spear guns) are prohibited without a police-issued import permit. See the official requirements.
